SingleThread Farms Collaboration Heritage Harvest Knife
The heritage harvest knife: A celebration of community
The bond between farmer and blacksmith can be traced for millennia. The blacksmith, crafting tools to outfit the farmer. The farmer, harvesting to generate and regenerate the land. Each tool, from plow to knife, is a symbol of this enduring partnership, forged with a love for nourishing land, family, and community.
At Seral Wood and Steel, we’re honored to continue this tradition through our latest collaboration with SingleThread Farms.
The blade
AEB-L stainless steel, it’s designed for exceptional durability and edge retention. We’ve taken this a step further by incorporating liquid nitrogen cryo treatment during the heat-treating process. This advanced technique enhances the steel’s hardness and resilience, ensuring that the blade retains its sharpness through countless harvests and kitchen tasks.
The handle
Each harvest knife handle is crafted from reclaimed local wood, either rich walnut or elegantly figured maple. And, to make sure the handle holds up to the durability of the blade, we treated the wood with food-grade mineral oil and locally sourced beeswax from SingleThread Farms. This process protects the wood and also enhances the unique features in every piece of wood, making each knife a one-of-a-kind work of functional art.
In the garden
The harvest knife handle features three convenient inch marks carved into the wood, designed for measured chopping, pruning, and picking, and the notches provide a little extra grip too.
